Beer notes: Sierra Nevada, Dogfish Head Life and Limb

dogfish-head-sierra-nevada-life-and-limb

(Chico, CA) – There have been a couple more articles published since the press release was first issued on this collaboration between two mega-craft brewers, California-based Sierra Nevada Brewing and Delaware-based Dogfish Head. First, this has to be one of the most well-done labels I have ever seen. From the blending of the various items and birds in the tree to the subtle placement of the brewery logos in the background . . . A+ ! Another thing I found peculiar were the production numbers floating around.

New Glarus Brewing vote wraps up today

new-glarus-brewing(New Glarus, WI) – In my work here over the past 18 months, I’ve observed that New Glarus Brewing is one of only a few breweries that has received virtually unanimous praise without much, if any, negative criticism. So I thought I’d highlight a project they’re doing this week that finishes today: the brewery is asking fans to vote on which beers they brew in 2010. Ultimately, dollars should speak louder than votes but the vote tally, available here, does give us some insight on what New Glarus might drop from its lineup or add to it next year. Here is how the beers are faring so far:

FULL SAIL BREWING COMPANY CELEBRATES THE BOUNTY OF THE HOP HARVEST WITH LUPULIN FRESH HOP ALE

Hood River, Or – Every August brings in a new hop harvest and every
year you can find Full Sail brewers travelling to the fields to gather
all the hops they can carry to brew their annual celebration of hops-
Lupulin Fresh Hop Ale. This year Full Sail focused on two classic
Northwest hops, Crystal and Cascade, both developed in Oregon. Cascade
hops lend a flowery, spicy citrus character to the beer. Crystal hops
have a mild character with a clean and slightly spicy finish. In order
to accentuate the unique flavor contributions of the two different hop
varieties, Full Sail brewers crafted two different brews using the same
malt, but different hops.

New Brew in Wolaver’s Organic Farmer Series!

The brewers of Wolaver’s organic ales have crafted another new beer as part of their seasonal Organic Farmers series. Alta Gracia Coffee Porter is brewed with organic roasted barley and chocolate malts for a rich, dark and robust flavor with an infusion of organic vanilla beans, and coffee from the Dominican Republic farm community Alta Gracia. This non-profit farm works to empower farmers with tools and techniques to grow quality shade-grown organic coffee. The result is growers who feel pride in their stewardship of the land, are paid fairly for their labor, and have healthy sustainable farms.

The new brew follows Will Stevens’ pumpkin ale and is scheduled to hit shelves by November.
Available in 6 packs, cases and draft. Visit wolavers.com and cafealtagracia.com for more info.
