“Customers have spoken and GLBC has listened! On Thursday, December 17, 2009 (the 106th anniversary of the first fixed-wing flight), GLBC’s Brewpub will release The Wright Pils, a classic pilsner style beer with a flowery bouquet and elegantly dry finish. Named after the brothers Wright who built the world’s first successful controlled airplane, this pilsner, like these local heroes, has all the Wright stuff!

BrewDog 5am Saint approved, Tactical Nuclear Penguin update

(Aberdeen, SCOTLAND) – Big BrewDog update! First, 5am Saint has received TTB label approval and will be shipped over to the U.S. in 2010. Also, there is good news for U.S. beer fans who want to try Tactical Nuclear Penguin as a Florida-based beer distribution rep in the RateBeer thread says that batch 3 will be imported to the U.S. around March.

Boulevard Imperial Pilsner label preview

boulevard-collaboration(Kansas City, MO) – Hat tip to Paul Hayden over at The Wine and Cheese Place for sending me this (Boulevard posted up the link on its Twitter today).

Boulevard Brewing is planning to release the Imperial Pilsner it brewed in collaboration with Jean Marie Rock, Orval Brewmaster, early next year. Hayden has been told it will be in January.

The beer is part of the Boulevard Smokestack Series line available in 750 mL’s. No word yet on how widely available this beer will be. 8% ABV.

Nøgne Ø Dark Horizon 3rd Edition

(Grimstad, NORWAY) – The second installment for the new Dark Horizon trio covers Dark Horizon Third Edition (or Dark Horizon 3.e).

I wrote last year that there would be some differences between the three versions: “1st had a lot of chocolate and black malt. 2nd had huge amounts of roast barley, while the 3rd has generous amounts of brown malt and even some smoke malt.”

Weyerbacher Hotel arrives and more

(Easton, PA) – Weyerbacher Brewing is releasing its next Brewer’s Select Series beer, Hotel. President, Dan Weirback, reported in a tweet on Monday that the beer would ship out on draft this week. Regional Sales Rep, Mike Lubieski, said on Wednesday that the beer would hit taps very soon. The eighth edition in the series, Hotel, is an 8.4%/65 IBU Imperial Porter.

More than 55,000 People Attended Tour de Fat to Help Celebrate the Bike

Ft. Collins, CO, December 3, 2009 – Tour de Fat, New Belgium Brewing’s traveling celebration of all things bicycle, raised more than $276,000 for bike advocacy groups during the 2009 season. Tour de Fat is a free event, but the money raised from the sale of New Belgium beers and merchandise helps local organizations continue their good work of bicycle advocacy and environmental stewardship. Last year Tour de Fat broke the $1 million mark, and with this year’s donations, the grand total now stands at more than $1.25 million.

The 2009 Tour de Fat season rolled into 11 communities, including two new cities – San Diego and Minneapolis. Karl Strauss Fullsuit Belgian-style Brown Ale makes debut
