(Burlington, VT) – Over the years, Magic Hat has shown no hesitation in replacing fan favorites in order to mix up its lineup.

A distribution rep confirms that Roxy Rolles has joined Jinx into the graveyard. In terms of sales, they may not be the brand leaders but they were brand staples that were popular among beer connoisseurs. Fortunately, the brewery will bring back another temporary casualty, Hi.P.A., as part of its IPA on Tour Series and Night of Living Dead variety 12-pack this fall though only time will tell if Jinx and Roxy Rolles will one day see bottles again.

So what is replacing Roxy Rolles?

Making its debut in 6-packs, 22’s and on draft is Hex Ourtoberfest. Hex will also make an appearance in the fall variety 12-pack. Magic Hat’s website describes the beer as, “A malty amber ale with hints of toffee and caramel and a slightly smoky finish.” Hex has been on tap since late last month at the brewery.

Beer Stats:

ABV: 5.4%
IBU: 25
SRMs: 18
Gravity: 14 deg. Plato
Yeast: German Ale
Hops: Apollo, Hallertau
Malts: Pale, Vienna, Crystal, Cherry Wood Smoked, Malted Rye

  1. hI.P.A. isn’t dead. It’s coming back this fall as the Fall IPA in the IPA On Tour Series. It will be in Night of the Living Dead 12-paks and in 6-packs on its own in the Northeast.

  2. Magic Hat, it took me a year to forgive you for what you did to Jinx but like Heart of Darkness & Ravell and so many other favs, I forgive you guys, you just like to mix it up and over the years that you have. I have always admired your many offerings. Hex is a subtle fall offering, actually
perfect for inbetween seasons as well. Hardly overbearing(especially for an Oktoberfest sytle beer) its got a nice drinkabiltiy going on and just nice hints of flavors I enjoy. Its new so
it will take time to grow on me but I will keep my feelings for her at a distance, she may taken away without warning but I will hopefully spread the word…
