The first Octoberfest beer was brewed to celebrate the marriage of King Ludwig of Bavaria during the last two weeks of September. The Village of New Glarus honors this traditional celebration with their own Octoberfest September 24 and 25th. New Glarus Brewing Company will kick off this spirited event by tapping a wooden keg Friday night in Downtown New Glarus. Everyone is invited to join in the festivities. The merriment will continue with live music at the brewery Saturday.
