Fiercely Preservative and Additive-Free Beer Captures Islands’ Purity

(New York, NY) – Lion Nathan, the leading brewer in New Zealand, announces the introduction of Steinlager Pure, a beer brewed using only the finest water, barley, hops and yeast its country has to offer. Wholly sourced from New Zealand, the purest place on earth, Steinlager Pure is preservative and additive-free, and brewed with the highest integrity, capturing the purity of its origins in every bottle.

New Zealand’s unique natural elements including rich volcanic soils, pure water sources, and unrivalled clean air, contribute to the unmatched taste and freshness of Steinlager Pure. Barley is harvested from the sweeping landscapes of the North and South Islands, while the hops are grown exclusively in Nelson, located on the northernmost tip of the South Island. Two types of hops were specially bred for Steinlager Pure: “Nelson Sauvin,” developed for its aromatic characteristics and “Pacific Jade,” for its highly intense flavor. Blended together, they create a beer with a light hop nose, a clean, natural finish, and a smooth, perfectly balanced flavor.

“New Zealand is known as a land apart with raw untouched beauty and an unaffected natural landscape, and all of the islands’ unique climactic elements played a role in creating Steinlager Pure,” says Regan Hill, Director of Export for Lion Nathan. “We are committed to producing beer that reflects our country, our people, our way of life, and Steinlager Pure does just that.”

The new, state-of-the-art Steinlager Pure brewery follows rigorous sustainability practices in order to maintain the unaffected nature of its surroundings and allow for environmentally friendly brewing. Located on the outskirts of Auckland, The Pride Brewery uses 10% less energy in the brewing process, low energy lighting, and harvests rainwater for non-brewing purposes. Steinlager also has a record of reduced water use and CO2 emissions, as well as recycling, reusing or value-adding more than 99% of the solid waste generated.

To celebrate its introduction to the United States, Steinlager Pure will be giving one enthusiast the chance to enjoy Steinlager Pure straight from the source when they describe the first moment they experienced its natural and refreshing taste. The author of the “purest” narrative will win a trip for two to New Zealand, the home of Steinlager Pure. For additional details, please visit

  1. Don’t get your hopes up, this is the ‘BMC’ of New Zealand.

Any craft brew enthusiast over here in NZ avoids it like the plague.

  2. Pingback: Press Releases: Pike, Iron Hill, Jester King, Detroit, Steinlager |

  3. A bit harsh Glen as you can’t really compare a mass produced beer to a craft brew. How would you say it compares to the like of DB’s products?
