(St. Louis, MO) – Schafly Beer unveils its newest creation…

Per Facebook:

“Just received label approval on our first new beer style debuting as part of our Brewer’s Choice Seasonal Series. Introducing Schlafly Bavarian-Style Weissbier. This uses our No.15 yeast strain and hits shelves this Spring.”

One of the Facebook commenters asked, “How does label approval work?” Schlafly gave an interesting response:

“We have to receive label approval from the TTB (alcohol & tobacco tax & trade bureau). Lots and lots of rules about what can and cannot go on a label. For example, we had to find a way to get the word “Beer” on the final label as “Bier” wasn’t enough. Same reason the logo for APA says “APA Ale”…which means we’re actually calling it American Pale Ale…Ale. The labels have to say Ale or Beer. That’s just one thing they check for.”

STL Hops gave more insight into what’s happening with Schlafly’s 2011 schedule in September. For more info on the Schlafly 20th Anniversary Series, debuting soon, click here.
