(Lahaina, HI) – New cans are coming next month from Maui Brewing.
Maui Brewing announced in this month’s newsletter that it would soon be canning a new release called Flyin’ HI.P.Hay. Some of you have read about Glen Hay Falconer and the Falconer’s Flight hop named in his honor. A number of breweries have been using it over the past several months though, to my knowledge, Maui Brewing will fittingly be the first to bottle or can a beer with the hop.
“Flyin’ HI.P.Hay is a tribute beer for Glen Hay Falconer, [Head Brewer] Scott Freitas’s mentor and best friend. This India Pale Ale was brewed with Falconers Flight, which is a hop blend of several varieties of commercial and experimental hops commonly found in IPA style beers. The base is 2-Row malted barley along with Crystal, Munich, and Dextrin malts. In Spring 2011, this commemorative beer will be released in cans and partial proceeds will be donated to the Glen Hay Falconer Foundation. This foundation provides brewing scholarships for brewers and home brewers. ‘Live to the fullest. Brew to the fullest.’” 6.8% ABV. 68 IBUs.
According to Founder/Owner, Garrett Marrerro:
“Cans just got printed yesterday. Canning end of the week and official release is May 7th locally then as soon as container lands in Oregon for rest of West Coast (around Mid-may). We’ll send to all markets that we are currently distributed in allocated by sales and pre-orders. Only going to have 2,000 cases across eight states and three countries so it’s going to go fast.”
You heard the man. The beer is still up for grabs so phone your local distributor. According to the website, “MBC is currently available in Hawaii, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Colorado, and Puerto Rico [and now Texas]. Japan is one of the countries but not sure on the other.
