Local news station covers story on Surdyk’s pricing of Surly Darkness

Wow, this story has more legs than a fine glass of Pinot Noir.

Though not everyone thought it was a big deal, local news affiliate, KARE 11, did a feature story on the pricing fiasco over Surly Darkness at Surdyk’s Liquors. Surdyk’s had no comment on the matter. The anchor mentioned that Surly beer is still available at the store though it will be interesting to see if there is any change in what beers it receives from Surly going forward.

For context, Surdyk’s may be the largest or one of the largest liquor retail outlets in Minnesota. This isn’t a tiny operation.

  1. The breweries and drinkers are the one’s who created this monster and the hoopla of limited/barrel-aged/one-day-a-year availability mess. Deal with it. Surdyk’s had every right to charge that much if people are willing to pay that much, and apparently they did. Supply and Demand. Learn how it works.
