Stone 11.11.11 Vertical Epic Ale debuts on November 7th

[…] it is a Belgian-style amber ale brewed with cinnamon and Anaheim chillis from New Mexico’s legendary Hatch Valley (famous for growing complexly flavorful chillis prized by foodies.) […] it will begin percolating out onto shelves and taps starting on November 7th, 2011. Why not on 11.11.11, you ask? Because the beer gods prefer releases to be on Mondays.

  1. Let us get this correct real quick. Anaheim chilies are NOT Hatch Chilies, Anaheim’s may have come from New Mexico but are in no way Hatch Chilies. Anaheim’s lack flavor, character, and most of all HEAT. Hatch Chilies are FULL of the above mentioned. Look forward to the beer though, but not expecting any heat maybe at best green bell pepper taste.

  2. Had the beer tonight at a tapping party. The flavor, although very mild does provide more than the grassy bell pepper you’re talking about. Definitely subtle, but nice to taste a beer brewed with chilies, but chilies aren’t the flavor profile. Most of the heat is in the aftertaste, it elevates the alcohol a little bit. lvfrankg
