(Point Pleasant Beach, NJ) – With nearly two years under their belts, East Coast Beer Co. is happy to announce that it will expand its craft beer distribution into Connecticut later this month with its new-found partnership with Dichello Distributors. This conglomeration will allow more than half the population of Connecticut to be able to purchase both of East Coast Beer Co.’s brews, Beach Haus® Classic American Pilsner and Winter Rental Black Lager, as well as any of their future creations.
Currently, Beach Haus® Classic American Pilsner and Winter Rental Black Lager are distributed throughout New Jersey and parts of Central Pennsylvania.
“This is very exciting for us,” said John Merklin, co-owner of East Coast Beer Co. “Dichello Distributors has a lot of reach in their markets and they are aggressively pursuing the craft beer market. They get us and our mission, not just our beer.”
“Dichello will get their first shipment of our beer mid-January and plan to hit the market right away,” added Brian Ciriaco, co-owner of East Coast Beer Co. “We are happy that we found the right distributor to help us start making our way into the New England area.”
Founded in 1933, Dichello Distributors is one of four Connecticut beverage wholesalers that is affiliated with Anheuser-Busch, but also focuses on independent craft beers. Serving Litchfield, Fairfield, New Haven and Middlesex counties, Dichello distributes to more than 2,000 bars and restaurants, as well as 1,000 liquor and grocery stores. Despite being the largest distributor of alcoholic beverages in Connecticut, they are very much involved with responsible drinking campaigns including bartender TIPS training.
“These guys [John Merklin and Brian Ciriaco] are really great to work with and we are really excited about their beer,” said Geoffrey Acampora, Director of Marketing at Dichello Distributors. “John and Brian really know their beer, when to have fun and how to do it, and it shows throughout the imagery for their beer. They are perfect for the beer business and we will stand behind them and whatever products they produce.”
After spending three years crafting their pre-Prohibition style beer, Beach Haus® Classic American Pilsner was proudly introduced to the New Jersey market in September of 2010. Since Beach Haus® Classic American Pilsner’s debut, the craft beer has been distributed throughout New Jersey and parts of Pennsylvania. More recently, East Coast Beer Co. launched their latest brew, Winter Rental Black Lager last October. This seasonal lager was inspired by the German Schwarzbier – a hearty, yet soft and elegant brew that brings comfort to the late fall and winter months, and is a darker beer with roasted malts and a hint of chocolate. Less hoppy than its predecessor Beach Haus®, Winter Rental is yet another full-flavored, accessible style to add to the East Coast Beer Co. selection.

About East Coast Beer Co. – Established in 2007, the Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey-based East Coast Beer Co. (ECBC) was founded by passionate individuals with a belief that the great American traditions of creativity, diversity, and accessibility apply equally to building a great beer company. Led by two long-time friends, John Merklin and Brian Ciriaco, East Coast Beer Co.’s first beer, Beach Haus®, is a Classic American Pilsner (CAP) which was crafted to pay homage to those early German-American brewers and the CAP style they created. The company continues to explore and fuel their love of craft beer by cultivating and developing new brews, as evidenced by the launch of their second beer – Winter Rental® – a darker seasonal lager with roasted malts and a hint of chocolate. Over the next couple of years, beer enthusiasts and novices alike will continue to see a number of original beer creations that are as easy to enjoy and appreciate as the rest of the East Coast Beer Co. brews.
