(Munster, IN) – Three Floyds Brewing put Dark Lord Day tickets on sale on Saturday and they reportedly sold out within a minute or two. There are over 20 listings for tickets on eBay as of noon on Sunday. In order to serve locals, the brewery started selling additional tickets this morning in Munster.
We realize that online sales create a difficult situation. In an effort to make sure our loyal locals have the ability to attend DLD, we’re offering a few hundred tickets for sale at the Pub today at face value. There is a 2 ticket per person limit and all sales are cash and final. We will also have standard favorites plus some limited barrel aged beers available during the ticket sale (2 case per person limit). Ticket sales will begin at 9:30 this morning. The brewery property is closed until 9:00 am as we set up. You must be 21 or over to purchase Dark Lord Day tickets. There will be an ATM available on site. We hope to see you this morning.
Dark Lord Day takes place on Saturday, April 28th.
If they’re ‘so concerned’ about the locals, why not limit a certain section of sales to people with an Indiana license?
G, at the event or on the ticket website? Logistically, that may be problematic.
I got tickets. Second year in a row. Not sure why so many people have problems.

Yes, at the brewery. Have x number of tickets reserved for in-person buys, local residents only. And have a large(er) number available for online purchase only.
Not that I really care, selling beer is selling beer and however they choose to do it as a privately owned business is up to them. But my point is, a lot of these breweries creating beers so highly sought after usually say how they want more locals to get more of their product.
Wouldn’t providing proof of local residency aid that? Perhaps have a ‘locals only’ booth for point of purchase on the day the beer goes on sale.
Three Floyd’s main market is Chicago so the whole local thing is kind of blown out of proportion. A few years ago, they pulled out of some markets in Indiana to send more beer to Chicago.
All these “Golden Ticket” beer sales are what’s causing the problem. Get rid of those and sell your beer in stores and let the customers do the searching.
I get tickets and give them to my friends who live close to Chicago to go. I did the Dark Lord Day a few years ago. No need to go back. I just get other people to buy the beer for me.
