Westbrook Brewing update: Single Hop Nelson Sauvin, Märzenbier, Dark Helmet

Westbrook Märzenbier Octoberfest Lager

(Mt. Pleasant, SC) – Here is the latest from Westbrook Brewing Co., courtesy of Thursday’s newsletter.

Lots of new stuff coming your way this Fall/Winter! First up we have the 3rd (but not final) installment in our single-hop series: Nelson Sauvin. This is our favorite one so far (besides the original Citra Rye), so get it while it’s fresh. Kegs should be popping up on tap this week and bottles will be released the week of 9/24.

It looks like its finally starting to cool off in Charleston, plus all the pumpkin beers have already been consumed (little brewer’s joke there, ha) which means it’s time for the the return of the Maerzenbier, our Octoberfest-style lager! Kegs go out on 9/17, bottles on 9/24.

Following the Marzen in late October/early November will be the Dark Helmet Schwarzbier and Vanilla Tree Dubbel. We’re also really excited to release our Saison again sometime in October! It will be packaged in 750ml bottles and is 100% bottle conditioned. A limited amount of kegs will also be available. We hope to make this a regular offering, but in keeping with the Saison/farmhouse brewing tradition we plan to brew it a little (or maybe a lot) differently each time.

Finally, in December we will release our 2nd Anniversary beer! This is a different beer each year, so no, this will not be the Mexican Cake. Hopefully it will be something just as awesome (we haven’t decided exactly what yet). Note to all the Mexican Cake fans out there: mark your calendars for May 2013.

We are finally able to print the “packaged on” date, time and the batch # on every Westbrook can thanks to our spiffy new Domino printer. We have a little bit of the unlabeled cases still in stock but once we run through those all new batches will have this info printed on the bottom of the cans.
