Several regional breweries expand reach in Florida

There is a lot of buzz around craft beer in Florida these days. With out-of-state regional breweries having success in the Sunshine State, naturally, others are clamoring to join them. Here is the latest (and no, this isn’t necessarily a comprehensive list)…

Bear Republic

The company entered Florida at the end of August and is distributed throughout the whole state through MicroMan. Draft-only for now but bottles will come down the road as early as next week. Look for 22 oz. bottles of Racer 5, Red Rocket & Hop Rod Rye.

Green Flash Brewing and Capital Brewery

Both breweries had limited distribution in Florida already but have recently opened up statewide distribution through the Bud network. Most wholesalers have already received product. Green Flash had employees in the market last week to kick off the statewide launch. Both have a full line of draft and bottles.

Pyramid Breweries

The company will launch in South Florida on October 15th. Beers will be available from Key West to Jupiter through Brown Distributing. Hefeweizen kegs and bottles will be available as well as the following, only in bottles: Apricot Ale, Outburst Imperial IPA and Thunderhead IPA. Also look for variety packs.

Sweetwater Brewing Co.

Announced its Tampa launch in Tuesday’s newsletter:

Mark your calendars, cause we’ll start pouring the week of October 17. Make sure you follow our SweetWater’s Heady Peddlers – Florida Facebook page for details on all the epic events we’ll have going on that week…and where you can get some free brews on us. For starters, you can come sample our heady brews at the Craft Beer & Crab Festival at Edgewater Park in Dunedin, FL on Fri. Oct. 19 from 2 – 10 p.m.

The Orlando market will see the beers in November.

Sixpoint Brewery, Alltech’s Lexington Brewing and Original Sin Cider

BeerPulse reported on Wednesday afternoon that Sixpoint is entering Florida through Cavalier Distributing along with Alltech’s and Original Sin.

Goose Island

Last but not least, Goose Island kegs are scheduled to arrive in November (obviously through the Anheuser-Busch network). Bottles will come next year.

Alan Shaw has more info on the Gold Coast Eagle Distributing market and it seems likely that it would applicable to other parts of the state.

  2. We have had both sweetwater and green flash here in Orlando for a few weeks! Can’t wait for some sixpoint! Now if only boulevard and founders would make it down here!

  3. Have you had SIXPOINT?? Ew. Not even brewed in Brooklyn. Contracted out of Penn at Lionshead brewery.

  4. Does this mean we will have Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale and Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout in Florida soon?
