Beer and politics up north: brewery threatens to close after outgrowing microbrewery tax rate

A brewery in Prince George, B.C., is still up and running despite warnings it would be forced to close this weekend because of changes to B.C.’s tax policy. Pacific Western Brewing said it would be hit with a massive tax bill after increasing capacity launched the business into a higher tax bracket, outgrowing its micro-brewery status.

  1. I looked up this brewery and they seem like a large brewery trying to be a small brewery who produce Macro Style beers at half the price of a BMC….do I have that right????

  2. I grew up in Prince George. PWB is no loss except to the people that work there. It is all macro styles. Their claim to fame is inventing the Light lime beer. Enough said.
