The second-floor space that Harpoon is using opened up in 2010 with the departure of an office tenant there (Harpoon has a master lease for the 47,500-square-foot property with the city.) The company has plowed $3.5 million into the project – which includes a new sales area for Harpoon apparel, a growler filling station and a catwalk that offers views of the factory floor. Doyle and Kenary hope to open the beer hall by Feb. 1, pending the approval of a pouring permit from the state Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission.
