Hill Farmstead crushes competition with 8 of top ten new beers of 2012, ‘Ann’ takes #1

UPDATE: Since posting this, RateBeer has named Hill Farmstead the best brewery in the U.S. and then the best brewery in the world.

(Greensboro, VT) – RateBeer announced its New Beers of the Year for 2012 on Wednesday.

Despite more than 13,000 worldwide breweries being considered for this year’s awards, Vermont’s Hill Farmstead took eight of the top ten spots, including #1 with Ann. Ann is a saison aged in French oak wine barrels. With 13 beers (14 if including a Tired Hands collaboration), Hill Farmstead accounts for more than 25% of the top 50 beers released last year.

Hill Farmstead was also named ‘New Brewery of the Year’ by RateBeer two years ago.

New Glarus Serendipity placed 2nd and Evil Twin Imperial Biscotti Break placed 7th.

Cigar City finished with four beers in the top 20.

RateBeer will announce best breweries by country on Thursday and best breweries in the world on Friday.
