In the episode, Twisted X co-founder, Jim Sampson, says that the company has a contract on land in Dripping Springs and has a 30-barrel brewhouse on order. Sampson hopes to have the system in place at the new location by December with commercial production of both bottles and kegs rolling out in January. That is a 10x upgrade on its current three-barrel system, just enough production to support eight to ten local draft accounts. The current brewery is located in a small 900 square-foot facility.
Co-Founder, Shane Bordeau, revealed that when the new brewery is up and running, San Antonio will be the first market outside of Austin where the company looks to distribute consistently. Bordeau said, however, that he sees the company producing 10,000 barrels of beer a year for the Austin market alone.
Sampson, who is the brewer, shares that he had been a homebrewer for more than 12 years before starting Twisted X. The two founders expect to quit their day jobs this fall and make a full-time go of it.
