Gritty’s S.O.S. Special Oatmeal Stout unveiled as first of four 25th anniversary beers

Gritty’s S.O.S. Special Oatmeal Stout

(Portland, ME) – The latest from the Gritty McDuff’s newsletter…

To celebrate our 25th “beerthday” this year, Gritty’s will be brewing not one, but four special ales! Each one a handcrafted masterpiece based on our heritage brewing British style, session beers. Ahhh, but these anniversary ales will be anything but “session”! They’ll be “bigger beers”: higher in ABV, with rich, complex, full flavors that take each beers’ specific style to a new level.

The first one is our S.O.S. Special Oatmeal Stout. This robust brew will contain 7 barley malts, torrified and malted wheat, 10% flake oats and it will be hopped with 3 different varieties of Goldings Hops. S.O.S. will have a smooth, chocolaty flavor with a full body. The ABV will be 6.8%. We’ve been brewing this favorite every spring for a few years and we thought it would be the perfect beer to kick off our 25th anniversary! It will be on tap in our brew pubs, at a select few restaurants, bars or pubs and in a limited run foil capped 22 ounce bottles starting around St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
