Schell’s Star of the North Series’ next beers revealed (video)

Schell's Star of the North Berlin Wheat Beer(New Ulm, MN) – In case you missed the Schell’s Star of the North news earlier this week, here is a quick refresher, courtesy of JJ Taylor Minnesota.

August Schell Brewing Company’s Assistant Brewmaster, Jace Marti, introduces the first release of the Noble Star Collection Star of the North Berlin Style Wheat Beer and explains what is coming next in the Noble Star Series.

Star of the North extremely pale yellow in color with a slight haze and a large, creamy, snow-white foam head. This beer is rather light on the palate and very dry. A lively carbonation accentuates the refreshingly tart acidity. Expect an interesting mix of fruity flavors reminiscent of ripe lemons and apple juice with a touch of spice and a subtle brett character.

In the video above (may need headphones to hear it), Assistant Brewmaster, Jace Marti, reveals what the next two beers will be in the series.

Slated tentatively for a November release, the next beer will be a different take on a berliner weisse or framboise. What Schell’s did was take half of the first batch of Berlin Wheat (140 barrels) and split it in half. The second half is fermenting away with the addition of 5,000 pounds of raspberries now.

The third beer will be a ‘Märzen Berliner Weisse,’ a different take on a sour brown, as Marti describes it. That will be released in 2014.
