Deschutes Jubelale kicked off the winter season on September 1st, making an early entrance. In 2012, the beer was released after the autumnal equinox.
As a winter beer season prelude of sorts, Kern River Brewing actually released its Winter Ale on August 1st.
Einstök’s Rudolph-inspired Icelandic Doppelbock arrived at the end of August.
Elsewhere, 10 Barrel Brewing released its Pray For Snow Winter Ale on Friday.
Up north, Tree Brewing bottled Vertical Winter Ale this week.
The official start of winter on the calendar, the winter solstice, takes place on December 21st.
