The Hobbit Series of Beers ships this week, coming very soon

The Hobbit Gollum Precious Pils

UPDATE 1: BevLink tells BeerPulse that distribution will begin “in the west” [presumably through the Great Artisan Beverages network] though the aim is to eventually make these beers available across the U.S.

ORIGINAL POST:

(Seattle, WA) – The Hobbit is getting its own beer series thanks to a new partnership between Fish Brewing, Ocean Brands, LLC and BevLink, LLC.

Though the feature film, The Battle of the Five Armies (autoplay trailer), doesn’t arrive in theaters until December 17th, you won’t have to wait long for these beers which ship this week.

Imperial in nature at nearly 10% ABV each, the trio of beers should be just fine to drink once the film is out. Each beer features one character from Hobbit lore: Gollum (Smeagol), the Dragon Smaug, and the Orc chieftain, Bolg.

Here are the beer descriptions from BevLink:

Gollum Precious Pils: A strong Imperial Pils, with flavors as smooth and crafty as Gollum himself. Like the ring which Gollum pursued for the rest of his life, his “precious” pils, if your quest leads you to it, could extend your life too! (at least we’d like to think so) It will, at a minimum, make your journey a little more enjoyable!

Smaug Stout: Smaug Stout is styled after a classic Russian Imperial Stout, but with a subtle hint of Habanero chilis to remind you of the fire and danger awaiting you in your journey to The Lonely Mountain. Pronounced notes of Coffee and Chocolate balanced with Northwest Hops and a touch of heat produce an exceptional imperial stout, a worthy reward for your hard-fought journey.

Bolg Belgian Tripel: An Orc chieftain who ruled for 150 years, Bolg would drink his grog of choice and no one would tell him otherwise – a flavorful strong Belgian Tripel. Some said it refined an otherwise gruesome character.

Warner Bros Entertainment Inc. and New Line Productions, Inc. are licensing the Hobbit Series of Beers.

With the project based out of Seattle/Bellevue, that area will definitely be one spot where these beers can be found. They will only be sold in 22 oz. bottles.

We have reached out to BevLink for additional info on distribution.
