(Newport, RI) – The Newport Craft Beer Festival co-sponsored by the Newport Storm Brewery and Pour Judgement Bar & Grille returns for the sixth year! Save the dates for this two-day festival: Friday, April 28th and Saturday, April 29th, 2017. New for 2017 – we’re going #unfiltered! Each brewery will feature some of their cloudiest, haziest, wheatiest and hopped up beers they offer. Unfiltered beer has been widely popular as of late, especially the New England Hazy IPA, and we want our brewers to show off their hazy best!
The Friday evening session (8-10pm) – the VIB (Very Important Beers!) Event – will feature different beers from festival brewers not available on Saturday in a much smaller, intimate setting at the Newport Storm Brewery. Brewers will be mixing and mingling with guests, hanging out and answering fan questions, while sharing a toast (or 2) with their fellow brewers!
Saturday features two sessions (noon-3pm & 4-7pm) held under a huge tent at the Great Friends Meeting House in downtown Newport, RI! Each brewery is required to send staff employed by the brewery so guests can pick their brains and learn all about each beer first hand from people who help make, market, design, and taste-test each brew! The festival also emphasizes Rhode Island beers, with “Guild Row,” a designated area under the festival tent where guests can easily access all the Rhody beers in one spot. All of the proceeds of the Newport Craft Beer Fest’s proceeds benefit the Rhode Island Brewers Guild, a not for profit organization that supports Ocean State craft breweries. Over the last five years, the Festival has raised more than $50,000 for the Guild, and the festival committee hopes to continue that trend.
“We’re thrilled to have brought the event from a 1-day, 1-session festival with 25 breweries in its inception in 2012, to a multi-day craft beer tasting extravaganza!” says Festival Director, Taylor Butzbach. “And to be able to grow the event but artfully keep it personable for both attendees and brewers aligns with our continuous goal of a really special overall experience. We also love giving each year’s event a fun, new theme, giving the brewers the opportunity to prominently feature different styles, ingredients, elements and brewing techniques of their beers… and maybe get a taste ourselves!”
Guests will have the opportunity to sample beers from all the breweries present, keep the commemorative tasting glass, and declare their favorite brewery by voting for the 4th Annual Fan Favorite Brewery Award. Local Newport restaurants will offer their best plates, and local bands will top it all off.
This festival is strictly a 21+ event. Friday VIB tickets are $35, and Saturday tickets are $45, available now. Space is limited to 75 tickets on Friday, and 550 for each session on Saturday.
