(Pleasantville, NY) – This came over the wire earlier this afternoon in a newsletter delivered from Head Brewer/Owner Scott Vaccaro. Captain Lawrence will be releasing Smoke from the Oak Aged in Wine Barrels in late March. Only 110 cases have been produced and there will be a bottle limit of three per person. The beers will be sold on a first come-first serve basis with the exact date to be announced later this month.
The beer has made waves on RateBeer as a top 10 porter. The commercial description, however, reads that it is actually a smoked porter. The beer is aged for twelve months in French oak barrels that previously housed pinot noir and merlot.
Other notes: Vaccaro also reports that beer distribution has expanded into Connecticut but did not specify which beers. Xtra Gold will be available at the brewery this Friday in 750’s.
