(Bellaire, MI) – Short’s Brewing will be wrapping up its voting drive in just a few days. The brewery has given on-line beer fans a chance to vote for a state to which they want Short’s to distribute their beers. The beer will be just part of the equation, however, next to “state laws, logistics, competition.” The brewery released its results as of Sunday, March 25 and Ohio is in the lead. Pennsylvania is in 2nd, Missouri is surprisingly in 3rd, and Massachusetts and Florida round out the top 5. This may only be the first round of voting though so the top several states should have another shot at the top spot. The bottles will be distributed to a new state either late this year or early next year. The Michigan bottle launch will be this May or June.
Short’s has become somewhat of a BeerAdvocate phenomenon and has earned less recognition on RateBeer. If you’d like to try their beers, you may consider heading over to the brewery on Saturday, April 26. The brewery will be releasing 22’s of its 2008 Anniversary Ale, a double IPA, and Bourbon-Barrel Sustenance Black Bier, “a rich caramel and toasty-toffee chocolaty malty dark lager.”
