(Munster, IN) – The most celebrated beer release in the US takes place on Saturday, April 26, in Munster, Indiana. Nick Floyd, founder of the brewery, aka Floydicus, revealed just some of the details of Dark Lord Day 2008 on both Beer Advocate and RateBeer recently. The event will take place all day from 11am-10pm with several bands playing music, and food and merchandise also being sold. It looks like Three Floyds will be improving crowd management for this one and going even further than that, delivering a “fest-like” experience for beer fans in attendance. Three Floyds Oak-Aged Dark Lord and Vanilla Bean Barrel-Aged Dark Lord will apparently be available on tap next to a lineup of real ales provided by a number of breweries. The brewery raffled off a few Oak-Aged Dark Lords back in 2006 and the beer was released previously. This will, however, be the debut of the Vanilla Bean version.
The other breweries representing with cask ales on tap include Pizza Port, Russian River, Firestone Walker, Goose Island, Flossmoor Station, Piece, Rock Bottom Chicago, and more to be named. No word yet on how many bottles will be released at DLD but, as always, more info as it comes…
