[8/24 Update: Looks like both beers begin to hit stores this weekend.]
Pictured above is the first look at Port Ne Goeien Saison Ale, a collaboration brewed with Hildegard van Ostedan from Brouwerij Leyerth (or Urthel). This year will mark the first time this beer has been released. That will take place tomorrow, July 26 at noon at the brewery. Another brand new one, Lost Abbey Witch’s Wit, will go on sale in early-mid August. Both will be released in 750’s at $9 and $8/bottle respectively.
Ne Goeien Saison will be bottle-only. 234 cases were produced, most of which is to be sold in SoCal. Those in Philly are lucky that Monk’s Cafe will be getting a limited supply. Witch’s Wit will most likely be distributed across the U.S. and on draft in Cali and Arizona. Arthur posted this info on his blog back in early July. You can also find a back story on Ne Goeien Saison there.

The cover art of “Witches Wit” is extremely offensive to women, witches, and anyone who knows history enough to remember the “Women’s Holocaust” of the 16th and 17th centuries in Europe and North America. Hatred and violence toward women is still present today and is perpetuated by the prejudice and lack of sensitivity of this artwork.
Would you purchase a product with an image of a black man being lynched on the cover of “Dead Man’s Ale” or a “Fiddler on the Roof Pilsner” with a Jewish child victim of Nazi concentration camp gassing piled in a mass grave? I think not, and if you did, I’d be writing in reaction to that as well.
Please either change the art work to something more life affirming, such as witches stirring a fabulous pot of herbs for healing, or BOYCOTT THIS PRODUCT.
