There is a smorgasboard of updates since the weekend was bogged down with studying for a certification exam. Here’s what is new:
MLive’s Kalamabrew posted a trio of updates from the Michigan Summer Beer Fest over the weekend. Sounds like it was another record-breaking beer fest. Pics and video included in the link.
John Foyston of Oregon Live’s The Beer Here has photos and parade video from the Oregon Brewers Festival. He also reported on Friday that the Horse Brass Pub in Portland will have Russian River Pliny the Elder, Blind Pig IPA, and Damnation. Natalie Cilurzo also sent out a tip in the Russian River Blog that Vinnie’s sister is selling Pliny the Elder at her winery, Twist Wine Company, in Pacific City, Oregon. As far as I know, this is the only Oregon location where it can be found. I looked for a website in haste but couldn’t find anything.
The Captain Lawrence Cuvee de Castleton release was very popular with 840 bottles reportedly selling out in less than an hour and a half. This leaves dozens of bottles produced unaccounted for so it will be interesting to see what happens with those. Owner, Scott Vaccarro, even left out a bottle and some glasses for the first person in line, Greg Clow of Beer, Beats & Bites [ed: well, one ‘gregc’ down. will the real ‘gregc‘ please stand up?], who shared the bottle when fellow beer-loving attendees arrived. Beer Advocate thread and RateBeer thread. [ed: Did anyone ask about when Rosso e Marrone would be ready?]
Lastly, there was the Lost Abbey Ne Goeien Saison release on Saturday. Haven’t seen much written about it yet but some were able to try the upcoming Lost Abbey Witches Wit. Witches Wit will be sold at the brewery next Saturday and both beers should make it to retailers soon.
There were a ton of other great events like the annual Publick House Hop Head Throwdown, too, but we can’t give them all their fair share.
A beer notes article on new beer releases will be published later this afternoon so check back then!
While I appreciate the plug/link, and would’ve loved to have been there, I wasn’t anywhere near the Captain Lawrence release this past weekend. Is someone out there impersonating me?!? 😉
That’s hilarious. There are actually over 10 Greg C.’s at Beer Advocate.
Looks like beer is your destiny, Greg! Or should I say…Gregs!
Rosso e Marrone won’t be out until at least September. What year you’ll have to guess for yourself.
🙂
The non-sold Cuvee cases are headed for EBay. Hey, a brewer needs to share in the $ love as well, no?
Seriously, they’ll be distro’d to some fave CL accounts.
