[8/13 Update: The Coloradoan also had an article on Odell’s proposed 16k sq. foot expansion as well in yesterday’s paper.]
We start off with a quick reminder/update on a previously reported item. Odell Brewing Woodcut No. 1 Ale will go on sale beginning at 1pm at the tap room. It is still tough to say what style this is though the brewery has come out and said that the second release will be a golden ale. This one will be limited to 120 cases at $25 a bottle.
The Coloradoan reported earlier this week that yet another craft brewery is expanding, another symbol of growth for the emerging craft market. According to the article, “Fort Collins Brewery will more than double its capacity when it builds a new $5 million brewery, upscale restaurant, lofts and commercial space at the northwest corner of Lincoln and Lemay. […] The brewery produced more than 5,000 barrels last year, still small in the craft brewer market, but will have the capacity to produce 45,000 barrels at the new site.”
You may have caught the press release posted at Beer Advocate and on various blogs. Left Hand Brewing has some seasonals re-circulating during August. Twin Sisters Double IPA, Oktoberfest Marzen Lager, and Rye Bock Lager are out now. So what’s the deal with the Warrior IPA, pictured above? The IPA is known for featuring wet hops but the brewery decided to age a keg to see what happens. It goes on tap at the brewery on August 29. More exciting than all of this, however, is the collaboration with Terrapin Brewing that we revealed in early June. The series kicks off at the Great American Beer Festival this coming October.
Speaking of which, Brewers’ Association President, Charlie Papazian, reported this week that there are still tickets available for this year’s fest but that they will sell out well before they did last year.
