Tyranena Brewing sent out its weekly newsletter today informing beer people that rather than brew a new recipe for its next Brewers Gone Wild! beer, it will bring back an old favorite: Hop Whore Imperial IPA. Only problem is that the brewery is running dangerously low on Simcoe hops and will have to tweak the recipe. Other breweries have had to do the same this year in order to pull off their beers including Smuttynose with its Big A IPA. No word on when it will be released yet.
Deschutes The Dissident seemed to be the story of the day yesterday after sending out a press release with more info on its highly-anticipated sour ale that will come out on September 1st. Liquid Solutions offered up a limited supply for online pre-orders and the beer sold out within a couple hours. Owner, Matt Maples, said he’s never sold out of a beer so quickly before.
As a follow-up to our Pennsylvania post, we should note that beers from a couple New England breweries will be heading down to Pennsylvania. Beers from New Hampshire-based Pennichuck Brewing should be made available in late August thanks to a distribution agreement with Shangy’s. PA beer people are in luck, too, because Pennichuck Poznarhick Russian Imperial Stout, the brewery’s most well-rated beer, will also be available at that time as well. Might be intimidating to buy a case at once but you may consider doing a case split as well. The other beers will come from Cisco Brewers of Massachusetts.
Finally, Terrapin Beer Co. will release Sunray Wheat Beer in the South-Atlantic area later this summer. The brewery is also advertising for an August 23 release of a new wheat beer called Sun Volt on draft. It’s the same beer, brewed with Tupelo honey from Savannah Bee Company. It will be interesting to see what the final label shows.
