(Placentia, CA) – The Bruery, apparent masters of the Witbier and praised in other Belgian styles, will release a new beer to Southern California this summer. Trade Winds Tripel will be the first in the style for Patrick Rue and company. According to the commercial description, the beer has a “Southeast Asian twist. Instead of using candi sugar (typical for such a beer), [The Bruery] uses rice in the mash to lighten the body and increase the gravity, and spice with Thai Basil.”
The best way to find this will probably be to contact some of the retailers carrying their beers per this link.
Based in Orange County, the brewery has made quite a splash in a short time. Its brews are ranked along with some of the long-time Belgian greats like Achouffe, an impressive feat considering the first batch of beer was only brewed this past March. They have a barrel-aging program going as well so they could see continued success. Our last update revealed that they are barrel-aging some of their Levud’s and an enormous imperial stout.
