(Easton, PA) – On the heels of new distribution deals leading to expansion into states like Georgia and Wisconsin, Weyerbacher Brewing continues to chug along with its series of special one-offs that will only be released right at home in Pennsylvania. Weyerbacher Bravo is a red wheat ale which will be released next week in kegs in PA and in (12 oz) bottles only at the brewery, most likely by next weekend.
Bravo is #2 in the Brewer’s Select Series after Alpha was released earlier this summer. It appears that the beer names in the limited series may follow the phonetic alphabet which would mean that the next beer would be named “Charlie.” We’ll put in our vote that it would be cool to see a beer made in honor of American Homebrewers’ President, Charlie Papazian. As for Bravo, according to Head Brewer, Chris Wilson, the base of the beer comes from pale, wheat, and crystal malts and features some roasted barley while Pilgrim and Hallertauer make up the light hop profile. ABV is around 6.5%.
As for future brews, the New Jersey-based Flying Fish Brewery blog hinted recently about Weyerbacher’s homegrown Nugget and Cascade Centennial hops. The total hop yield is estimated to be close to 500 pounds, and could be harvested later this month. Owner, Dan Weirback, is apparently planning to throw together a wet hop beer. Stay tuned.
