[Update: Are we keeping the beer marketers on their toes or what! Or maybe it is coincidence…but Bill Manley posted that Chico Estate arrived in stores today just a few hours ago on Beer Advocate. As far as availability, Manley posted, “Chico was alotted 95 cases. The rest of California will see 675 cases. The rest of the country will get 560 cases spread among the regions.]
You need look no further than the newly-updated release dates calendar for September to see why (and check out August to see what just came out). By my count there are at least 20 first-time bottlings that could hit store shelves this month as well as several returning favorites like Founders Breakfast Stout. September is also the time when we begin to see the fresh hop ales for all the hopheads out there. New brews, over the next week or so, will come from Stone, Deschutes, Three Floyds, Upland, Allagash and De Proef, and (possibly) Sierra Nevada and Listermann…
As we posted on our beer buying page over the weekend, look for Stone Belgian Style Triple Ale and Stone Cali-Belgique to be available beginning this week. The actual Stone Brewing store is already selling bottles and South Bay Drugs is the only confirmed location thus far that will have something in stock.
Deschutes The Dissident will be available in Oregon shops beginning on Tuesday.
Remember those Upland Lambics we posted about in July? The brewery announced an ordering window of Sept. 1 to Sept. 15 for these, and we wouldn’t wait until the end of the window. Here is the online ordering link; just make sure that you can actually make it to the brewery to pick up your beers as they DO NOT SHIP.
Three Floyds’ will follow up its last seasonal, Gorch Fock, with Moloko Plus (think Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange), a re-release of the brewery’s silky smooth Milk Stout. Rumor out there is that this may be ready to purchase in both Indiana and Illinois as early as this week.
Les Deux Brasseurs, the collaboration between Allagash and De Proef, is also beginning to ship to retailers now.
Sierra Nevada might be shipping its Chico Estate Harvest Ale this week if it didn’t already make it out the door last week. According to Bill Manley, Sierra Nevada Communications Coordinator, the beer was supposedly going to be ready to ship out at the very end of August. 1600 pounds of hops made it into the 200bbl batch. The regular Harvest Ale will be ready later in the fall. [Sent out an email to get an update]
Lastly, for readers in Ohio, the renowned homebrewing shop, Listermann Brewing Supply, got approval for its Cream Ale last week. That, along with Wild Mild, should be available soon at the shop if it isn’t already.
