Amager Hr. Frederiksen, Batch One, and Sundby Stout coming to U.S.

(Kastrup, DENMARK) – I did this same thing with Alpine Beer Co.’s Ichabod and Boris Imperial Stout. After waiting patiently for more information to surface, I gave in and posted only to find that more info would surface just hours later! In this case, you may have read my piece on Amager Bryghus yesterday, contemplating what potential the recent Julebryg label approval could hold for the future. And now we know…

Amager Hr. Frederiksen is one of the top 100 beers on RateBeer. It is named after someone though I am unclear as to whether it is a RateBeerian. I mention that because the brewers, Mr. Morten Valentin Lundsbak and Mr. Jacob Storm, were actually members of the site before they started the brewery and are close to the community there, having named beers after RateBeer members (or at least a single beer). As I mentioned in the previous article, it appears as though only a few hundred bottles are released for each batch of this beer so I don’t know how the Shelton Brothers are pulling this off, especially considering that per-state legal fees can cost well over $100.

Amager Bryghus will also send over Batch One, an American Strong Ale with a focus around Simcoe hops. The IBU level for the beer is 80+. Sundby Stout, pictured below, will round out the four beers slated to ship. There aren’t anymore after this, at least for now, though I look forward to my next correspondence with Matt Dinges from Shelton. I will let you know as soon as I found out when these beers are arriving.

  1. Last night I sampled the batch of Hr. Frederiksen and Batch One that Jacob and Morten are sending to the States – think folks will be quite happy with both of them!
