[2/15 Update: The beer was released early! Available in Missouri as of a few days ago.
1/1 Update: The beer is now on tap in Missouri and will be released in bottles in March of next year.
10/30 Update: Boulevard Brewing’s Director of Operations, Jeremy Ragonese, graciously provided me with more information after publishing:
Single-Wide IPA will be a member of Boulevard’s year-round core brands, available to all markets in 6-packs, 1/6 bbls and 1/2 bbls beginning in March of 2009. The branding efforts you may have seen are only rough at this point, we’re still in development on labels, packaging, etc. […] The success of Double-Wide IPA in the Smokestack Series, as well as the relatively few IPAs coming from our region despite the style’s growing popularity, led us to produce a version that would be accessible to a wider market than it’s 750ml cousin.
BBQ will start to see shelves in December, but due to its extremely limited quantities you may not see it everywhere, nor will there be much of it available in those accounts that receive allocations.
(Kansas City, MO) – Boulevard Brewing has plans to release a new beer apart from its Smokestack Series next year. Single-Wide IPA is a bottle-conditioned IPA that will be released next spring in 6-packs and on draft. The neck label reads:
In time-honored brewing tradition, we’ve added a small amount of yeast to this ale just before packaging to produce a secondary fermentation in the bottle. The yeast, which settles naturally to the bottom of the bottle, encourages further maturation and contributes to the ale’s complex flavor.
The brewery does have a Smokestack beer called Double-Wide IPA so it is conceivable that the two beers bear some kind of relationship.
Speaking of…the 6th in the series, Boulevard Bourbon-Barrel Quadrupel, is apparently going to be pushed back to a December release at the earliest. The beer was originally slated for launch next week.
