As the Maine’s newspapers and airwaves continue to be a battle ground for Question 1 lobbyists from both sides, a number of new beers are being released in Maine soon. [ed: Question 1, if passed will veto recently imposed taxes on sales of beer and other beverages to help fund a state health program. Yes: Fed Up with Taxes | No: Health Coverage Maine ] D.L. Geary Brewing will bring back two previous limited release beers.
Geary’s Imperial IPA and Wee Heavy Scottish Ale (pic below) will make their return after a two-year plus absence. Both beers were previously released as part of the brewery’s 20th Anniversary back in early 2006. Four beers were released as part of the celebration with Vanilla Porter and Kristalweizen being the other two. However, only the Wee Heavy and Vanilla Porter were released in bottles. Both challenged the flagship, Hampshire Special Ale, as contenders for the brewery’s best beer. The Imperial IPA also becomes one of the only Double IPAs released in bottles by a Maine brewery. No word yet on whether all four will eventually be re-released.
I was wondering if there was any place to buy the Wee Heavy? I live in Kutztown PA and am willing to drive to the closet place. It is for a friends birthday and I would love if you could help me at as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Beth
