(Easton, PA) [ed: Before I get to talking about Weyerbacher, a quick reminder that the big opening of Earth Bread & Brewery in Philadelphia, run by the former purveyors of Heavyweight Brewing ales, is tonight. It has been well over two years in the making since the closing of Heavyweight; best of luck to them on their big opening!]
Weyerbacher Charlie will be the next beer in the Brewer’s Select Series, one-off beers that are mostly available only at the brewery and see limited distribution. This next installment will be a 7.4% ABV smoked dark ale; the beer was packaged last week. As far as distribution goes, Head Brewer, Chris Wilson, writes,
“A very limited number of 12oz. bottles were packaged for sale in the brewery visitor’s center and the rest in kegs (24 ½ bbls). This release was split between Massachusetts and New York City so look for it there. We did have a few left that went into the Philly area so if you are lucky you might find it there as well. The beer will be released 10/18/08 here at the brewery. It should ship out to Mass this week and shortly to NY and Philly so you should see it in the markets within the next few weeks.”
Going along with the phonetic alphabet theme, I presume that Weyerbacher Delta will join Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie as #4 in the series in November or December.

This is a great site. I haven’t ever seen anything like it. Have you checked out BeerMenus.com? They’re planning to get to other cities early next year.
Thanks! And yes, BeerMenus definitely shows some promise.
