The Alchemist in Waterbury, VT, will celebrate its 5th Anniversary this Saturday night. The brewery, known for drawing long lines at the annual state beer festival, are busting out anything and everything special for this event including Heady Topper, Beezlebub, and El Jefe. The full list can be found at Beer Advocate.
Following the post about Manchester Brewing, another brewery startup is meeting challenges in the small town of Logan, Utah. The brewery in planning (which I believe could be Cache Valley Brewing) would potentially open up downtown next year. What could prevent that from happening? Odors. An individual raised a concern about the possibility of the brewery emitting odors that could ‘stink up’ the downtown area and it actually saw some discussion during the meeting. The Herald Journal posted the story which has seen a number of comments.
A couple quickie Surly updates: Smoke was released at Mackenzie’s Pub and Stub & Herbs this week and we should see it at more places soon. Pay attention to this thread at BA. And according to The Beer Spot, the brewery hopes to begin canning Coffee Bender in a couple weeks and it could become a year-round offering.
Finally, Kuhnhenn Brewery and Portsmouth Brewery have new websites up. Both are in the initial stages and have their share of quirks. Kuhnhenn has been without a web presence of any sort for a while so this is a great improvement. Portsmouth, on the other hand, has had a functional operating website as well as a blog in which brewers have been posting frequently.
