(Bridgewater Corners, VT) – It isn’t everyday that I hit upon Vermont brewery news. A label approval came through last week for a Long Trail beer that I didn’t recognize so I reached out to the company for info.
According to Seth Wyman, Long Trail Brewing Brand Marketing Manager, “Long Trail plans to release a special line of gourmet style beers made in small batches. The Coffee Stout will be the first of these to be offered in its very own 22oz bottle […] We are hoping to release this product in early February throughout our 9 state distribution area.”
Long Trail is #22 on the Brewers Association list (pdf link) of top craft producers. No word yet as to whether this is a jump into the “extreme beer” market but an interesting move, nonetheless, by another major craft brewer. As an example of the growing trend, another New England brewery, Boston-based Harpoon Brewery, just released a new extreme beer series called Leviathan.
