(Fort Bragg, CA) – Seems fitting that a craft beer that has been described as pouring “pitch black” be released on Black Friday. North Coast Brewing just sent out an email that Old Rasputin XI will be available this Friday only at the brewery store. The brewery may struggle to compete with shoppers but it gives you guys a valid excuse to escape from the malls (and your wives), right? Here are the release details:
“With a string of 12 Gold Medals dating back to 1996, Old Rasputin has developed a cult following wherever it goes. So would it be possible to improve upon that huge, robust coffee and chocolate flavor profile? Check it out! On Wednesday, November 26, North Coast will bottle the long-awaited Old Rasputin XI to celebrate the eleventh anniversary of the first bottling of Old Rasputin. This special batch of Old Rasputin has been aging for a year in oak bourbon barrels, and it is truly amazing-even more depth and complexity than we had hoped for. Old Rasputin XI will be available only at the Brewery retail store in Fort Bragg beginning on Friday, November 28-the day after Thanksgiving. (How about that for perfect holiday timing!) It will be packaged in a 500 ml. bottle with commemorative labels and a cork and cage finish at $12.95 per bottle. Limit is one case per customer. Some for now, some for cellaring. Sorry, we are unable to ship beer to consumers.”
Old Rasputin is one of my favorite imperial stouts. It would be sad to think that this brew would only be available at the brewery only. Any chance this will be part of their regular distribution? Would like to see this beer out in Colorado.
Naw, this is definitely one of those cream of the crop-type beers and I don’t think they will have any left to distribute. Never know in this market but certainly not enough to make it to CO. I would be happy to be wrong in this case though.
