November marks return of Obliteration Series, debut of Venus

Midnight Sun Obliteration IV

(Anchorage, AK) – Midnight Sun Brewing is keeping up a torrid brewing schedule with a number of new and seasonal releases coming up. On the heels of the Midnight Sun Saturn release this past week, more Panty Peeler Tripel will be on tap and in bombers this Friday to kick off the month of November…

They will follow that up with the next Planet Beer Series release on Nov. 14: Midnight Sun Venus is a 14% ABV Quadrupel, “spiced with *star* anise and aged in French Oak Cabernet Sauvignon casks.”

The return of the Obliteration Series comes on Nov. 21 with the debut of Midnight Sun Obliteration IV. This first three editions of this series were Double IPAs though this one is billed as a double wheat. To achieve this, the brewery is ditching the Carapils and C-10 malts used in last year’s version for malted and flaked barley. The hop profile is more basic this time around, anchored again by Amarillo and Columbus hops, with Chinook hops being a new addition to the mix. The IBU level has been upped to 100 from 87 this year so clearly no hop shortage concerns here. To be released in bombers and on draft to the tune of about 30 bbls…

Midnight Sun Arctic Devil, Uranus, and Jupiter round out the year’s special releases; the full schedule can be found on the homepage. Neptune will be the last released

Midnight Sun VP and Marketing savant, Barb Miller, told me that the brewery is still looking for new space. Once that project is done, the brewery eventually will look into expanding distribution, with hopes of Washington leading things off sometime next year.
