Word on the streets is that Founders Porter and Founders Imperial Stout are now on some store shelves after a multi-year absence from bottles.
A report on the next Furthermore beer courtesy of Madison Beer Review: “We will tap the inaugural keg of ‘Thermo Refur’, a freaky Aran Madden creation involving bretanamyces, organic red beets, black pepper and some black malt for a high-alcohol, used band-aid sort of vibe. We considered ‘Red Menace’ and ‘Fugly’ as names, but settled for a simple cheeky anagram. We are only releasing a small quantity of this beer in kegs. We’re guessing it’s not going to be for everyone (sort of like sea urchin or a root canal), so there will also be three other varieties of Furthermore on tap.”
Latest from Brewdog blog: Mikkeller Brewdog Divine Rebel will be bottled in April 2009.
From the Alchemist blog: “After two years of talking about it, I finally have Kombucha on tap at The Alchemist. Kombucha is a fermented black tea that is loaded with antioxidants, amino acids and many different pro-biotic cultures.”
Finally, you ever visited the Beer Judge Certification Program site over the past several months to see a big notice flagged that a former Treasurer would eventually be sentenced. Well, that finally happened today. William Slack of Nashua, NH, was sentenced to a 12-week prison term and agreed to pay $43k in restitution to the organization after “pleading guilty to a mail fraud charge.”
“Judge Steven McAuliffe settled on a more uncommon ‘intermittent’ sentence, ordering that Slack spend one week a month in federal prison for 12 months, starting in February, Huftalen said. Slack also will remain on probation for five years, he said.” – Nashua Telegraph
Guy is lucky. He could have received a sentence of anywhere from 10 months to 20 years.
