(Ashburn, VA) – Old Dominion Brewing will release its most critically acclaimed ‘active’ beer, Dominion Millennium Ale in February. As it states on the bottle, the winter seasonal was “originally brewed to commemorate the 1000th batch of beer.” It went over well enough that the brewery decided to keep it going year after year.
The beer is similar to a Barley Wine, brewed with 2-row Muntons Pale Malt, Light Crystal Malt, East Kent Goldings and Mt. Hood hops. There was apparently even a Brett-spiked version on tap recently (I’d have to dig that one up again to be sure).
When asked about the possibility of a release event, Casey Hollingsworth, VP of Sales and Marketing for Coastal Brewing (Old Dominion’s parent company) says that there is the possibility of release events taking place at the two Old Dominion Brew Houses (DC Convention Center and College Park).
At the final tasting event held at the brewery there were 4 Brett spiked batches (using different Brett strains) of barrel aged millennium. Word was that they might end up being blended into the next release of barrel aged millennium. If that is the case I’ll be stocking up since they were fantastic.
