First-ever Imperial Stout on its way from Boston Beer Co.

(Boston, MA) – Remember in my previous Samuel Adams article where I wondered whether we would finally see an imperial stout from them? Looks like I was onto something! Boston Beer Co. is set to do it up big, coming out with their first Imperial Stout, marked with notes of coffee, chocolate, and anise. Boston Beer Co. has had a test batch of imperial stout on tap before at the brewery before which was only available to tours. This one will be the first released into the market. Top American brewery meets Imperial Stout, need I say more?

It will be interesting to see where all of these beers end up falling on the spectrum. Will they appeal to those just getting into craft beer? Or will they be more to the taste of the connoisseur crowd? [ed: What would be great is if these came in a mixed 4-pack where new craft beer drinkers could get a taste of each style.]
