Sunday special: 5 new beer approvals

New Old Lompoc Proletariat Red

I can’t go into detail on every beer I see approved but I can, at the very least, just throw ’em out there for you in case you are local to the region. I believe these are all due out next year though a couple may have been released already. If that is the case, just let us know by posting a comment. And I cold be wrong but these all look like session beers! Here are five to look for…

Pictured above is New Old Lompoc Proletariat Red. New Old Lompoc is based in Portland, Oregon but understandably flies under the radar with all of the great area breweries with which to compete. Per the site: “Malty and full bodied, Lompoc Red sets a new standard for this style of beer. Great for stronger flavored foods or just drinking on a perfect Portland day. Proletariat Red reminds us that work is the curse of the drinking class!  (6.4% a/v)” PortlandBeer.org just snapped some nice shots of some of their other bottles, too.

I chose to put them above the fold after seeing the unique charity program posted on their site: “Bald Guy Brigade, which donates money to Locks of Love, is a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to children suffering from long-term medical hair loss.”

Stoudts Munich Dark

You are probably familiar with Stoudts Double IPA or Stoudts Fat Dog Imperial Stout. The Adamstown, PA, brewery has (or will have) a new Munich Dark Lager on tap soon. 4.8% ABV.

And now a few breweries that I am in the dark about…I surprisingly have seen very few reviews for Mt. Pleasant Brewing beers despite that they have been brewing since the mid-90s. Looks like several of their labels are hitting bottles for the first time. They are based in Mount Pleasant, MI.

Sand Creek Wisconsin Scottish Ale

Sand Creek Brewing, a brewery out of Black Falls, WI, has a Scottish Ale coming out. They keep a blog, too, which is updated though with little talk about the beers (at least as of late).

Motor City 120W-60

Finally, Detroit’s own Motor City Brewing has both a ‘Double Pale Ale’ and an IPA coming out in bottles.

  1. I believe Mt. Pleasant Brewing Company are the folks from Mountain Town Station Brewing Company. They set up the new place to bottle and distribute. Sort of like ABC and Corner.
