5/7/11 Update: I recommend France 44 for buying Surly beer online.
[I have an email out to Surdyks on the issues mentioned in the Beer Advocate thread. $100 minimum, $75-$100 shipping charges. These need to be addressed. Let’s wait and see what Surdyks says.]
You can now buy craft beers from the state of Minnesota among others in the Midwest. I recently found the Surdyks website and noticed that the store had QUITE the online selection. (Another plug for my Twitter page as I revealed this to them last week). I usually reserve these posts for the Buy Beer page but when a whole region’s beers become available to much of the nation (legally), it’s a big freakin’ deal. Here are the breweries that we are talking about here…
Surly Brewing (Furious Bender and Bitter Brewer available), Tyranena Brewing (no Brewers Gone Wild beers right now), Flat Earth Brewing, Capital Brewery, Schell’s, Rush River, Sprecher, Summit, Cold Spring/Gluek, Leinie’s (no New Glarus beers either)
There is no way that Surdyk’s still has Bitter Brewer in stock. It’s been gone from the cities for months. Also, some might want to double check the availability of Flat Earth as they now self distribute and don’t get to as many places anymore. New Glarus isn’t distributed in MN or anyplace other than WI.
Thanks for the tips, Jeff. Strange though not surprising that the store allows you to put the product in the shopping cart even if it’s out of stock. I’ve seen it other places as well.
Apparently you have to spend over $100 to get it shipped out of state and the shipping charges are almost as much as the cost of the beer itself. Not worth it…
