[1/9 Update from Steve Hayes of Terrapin: Side Project Volume 5 will be a Belgian IPA called Monk’s Revenge. It is scheduled to be released in early March. Also, 2009’s version of Rye Squared will be released around this time as will 6 packs of Sunray–our German-style wheat brewed with Tupelo honey from Savannah Bee Company.

Side Project Volume 6 is still in the vault, so there’s nothing I can say about that.

Yes, the Side Project beers will be available everywhere Terrapin is sold except Alabama and Chattanooga, TN (available in Georgia, Tennessee-Nashville area, S.C., N.C., Florida, and Pittsburgh-PA).]

Full details below.

(Athens, GA) – First things first, Terrapin Beer Co. has released Side Project #4, Dos Cocoas Porter, in parts of Georgia. It should soon be in some of the brewery’s other territories, including Pennsylvania. Try these threads if you are hunting it down. Now to the topic at hand, Side Project #5 and #6

Side Project #5:

Terrapin Monk’s Revenge

Belgian Style Double IPA

“This new age beer style is a fusion of two great brewing traditions that are worlds apart – a hoppy American Double IPA and a classic Belgian Tripel.” The label also reads, “Beware the Gnome in the funny green hat!” Maybe this is an ode to La Chouffe’s gnome? Too bad the gnome has a red hat.

Side Project #6:

Terrapin 90 Shelling

Scotch Ale

“Traditionally, the Scotch call this beer 90 shilling. At Terrapin, we know it as “90 Shelling.” Magnificently malty, this 90 Shelling Scotch Ale pays tribute to the full bodied ales of Scotland.

The Side Project Series beers are typically bottled to around 500 cases and the releases come a few months apart. Just a guess but #5 would probably be ready late winter/early spring and #6 late spring, possibly beginning of summer.

  2. Where do you live? If you send me an email, I might be able to help. Cheers!

BTW, Terrapin is based in Georgia so southern Atlantic coast is your best bet!
