Newly crowned RateBeer brewing champ, Three Floyds Brewing announced on its website yesterday the launch of DarkLordDay.com, the new hub for Dark Lord Day news. There isn’t a whole lot of info there yet except for confirmation of the date (April 25) and details on how the ticketing system will work:

“In order to improve everyone’s chances of getting some bottled Dark Lord we’re going to be implementing a ‘Golden Ticket’ program that guarantees you an opportunity to buy a set number of bottles of Dark Lord.” The tickets will be going for $10 a pop next month (proceeds donated to charity) and you need to register for a chance to get a ticket now from what I gather.

Head over to the new blog site for the full details.

Other notes:

Check out the beer lists for this weekend’s Extreme Beer Fest to be put on by Beer Advocate in Boston. Looks like there will be some mind-blowing beers on tap though the event is sold out.

Yesterday’s Avery Brabant release party looks like it was a packed house. Check out the pics on Flickr.

Struise Cuvee Delphine is delayed until end of March 2009.

Over at the Brookston Beer Bulletin, you will find some short video highlights of this year’s Toronado Barleywine Festival held last Saturday. It is arguably the biggest barleywine event to take place each year. Glacier Brewing took the title with Big Woody. The top 3 are announced at the end of the clip. [On a side note, Jay notes that the condition of popular beer writer, Bill Brand, has not improved over the past week and he is still in critical condition.]

Finally, Cigar City Brewing has announced that there will be a kickoff event of sorts at the Oldsmar Tap House, tentatively scheduled for March 21, in which the brewery will feature casks and kegs of nine of its beers. Click here for the full lineup. The brewery faces a key inspection today. Let’s cross our fingers!
