Another top 50 beer may hit the USA

dieu-du-ciel-aphrodite

(St. Jerome, CANADA) – The fact that

Dieu du Ciel Aphrodite

got label approval doesn’t mean for sure that it will arrive in the U.S. Nevertheless, it sounds promising that this beer will make it over. Aphrodite, known in Greek Mythology as the Goddess of Love, is an alias for another ale from Dieu du Ciel known as Aphrodisiaque. Beer reviews currently put it in the #52 slot at RateBeer. Here is the lowdown from President, Stéphane Ostiguy, followed by some info on the beer itself:

“We’ll start the production of this beer probably next month. We don’t exactly know however when we’re gonna ship this beer to the USA. We expect a huge demand for this beer in our local market, and with Spring-Summer coming, we might have some problem to keep up with the demand.

We’ll do our best to send it south of the border as soon as possible, hopefully in the beginning of the summer.”

Here is the beer description off of the brewery’s website: “Black ale with aromas and flavours of vanilla, dark chocolate, bourbon and roasted malt. The vanilla and cocoa marry nicely, without out-competing each other, to produce a surprisingly well balanced beer. This beer is mildly hoppy, but the cocoa introduces a touch of bitterness. Its colour may be intimidating, but it is a very smooth beer within reach of most beer drinkers. This highly appreciated dessert beer is brewed with organic fair-trade cocoa and first rate vanilla beans.”

The draft version is 5% ABV so they’ve upped the ante with it being 6.5% in the bottle. Aphrodisiaque will celebrate its six-year anniversary in May.

In case you missed it, Dieu du Ciel Equinox du Printemps and Rigor Mortis ABT will both soon be available in the U.S. market. The Shelton Brothers are responsible for importing the Canadian brewery’s brews to the States.
