New Hampshire’s Smuttynose Brewing is ringing in a new era now that it has officially retired its Smuttynose Portsmouth Lager. The brewery will soon introduce

Star Island Single

: “This medium-bodied golden ale features a slight residual sweetness from Honey Malt and hints of citrus and tropical fruits from the unique Belgian yeast […]” It was bottled today for the first time and will be sold in six-packs, 1/2 barrels, and 1/6 barrels soon thereafter.

Over in Indiana, Barley Island Brewing is re-releasing its Beastie Barrel Porter but for this turn, it will also be available in bottles for the first time. Here is more info from Linda at the brewery, “This beer will go into distribution in Indiana on April 1. Our Rust Belt Porter was aged in Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels for over 3 months. There is limited supply (150 cs), but will be available again around the same time next year.” The beer will be distributed though World Class Beverages (try the beer finder to see where Barley Island brews are sold).
