(Pleasantville, NY) – Not that anyone hasn’t read about it by now but Captain Lawrence Brewing is putting out its Smoke from the Oak Wine Barrel for the third year. Here is the email sent out from Owner/Brewer Scott Vaccaro earlier this evening:

“This is the third year we are releasing this version of the wine barrel aged smoked porter, and this is one of the best vintages. The flavors that evolve from the oak barrels and the use of wild yeast transform this beer into something new and exciting. The favors are fruity and winey, and the aroma is rich, earthy and fruity…..layers of flavor to enjoy.

After hearing stories of the last two versions of this beer becoming over carbonated in the bottle after extended aging, we decided to filter this batch, and re-yeast the bottles with traditional ale yeast rather than the wild yeast it was aged with. This should create a much more stable beer that has the potential to age beautifully.

Production: 80 cases
Release date: March 21st, 12:00pm
Price: $12 / bottle(750ml), 4 bottle max per person”
